born 12 August 1953 in La Paz) is a politician, historian, and President of Bolivia during the period 17 October 2003 until replaced on 6 June 2005.Mesa has been a vice president since August 6th 2002. As vice president, he is also the head of the Bolivian Congress.
Before entering the political world, Mesa is a historian and journalist in radio, TV, and newspapers. He is a member of the Academy History of Bolivia.
After didemonstrasi by society, he offers himself to the postponement of Congress on 7 March 2005, but members of Congress to choose the absolute decline the offer a day later.
